Little Mack Horner - AKA My boy and his plum

Ok...so we started solid foods this week....real solids...not purees and cereals.  It is a way to introduce children to solids as the transition to table foods while the primary source of nutrition is their formula/breastmilk.  It is called baby led weaning for those who think I am nuts and care to do a bit more research.  Anyway....so as I was saying...we started real foods.  Maverick has LOVED this.  He really gets into it and so far, I cant say there is anything he doesn't like that I can tell.   Yesterday started about the same as all days.  I laid out some options, and he played, ate, sucked on the various choices....

Broccoli was a big hit.  This was the first time he had had this....the avocado, sweet potatoes and tomato he had seen before this week 

and appeared to enjoy...

Then he appeared to be through after mauling what was put before him....so we rinsed and cleaned...however he decided 

he wanted more....So I gave him a plum with one bite out of it...the rest you see here is all on his own. 

 

I only fished it out of his lap a couple of times when he lost hold and put it back on his tray.  It was quite amazing....He is a plum eating machine....

Oops he dropped. it....I was told they would spit the skin out when they got through it....not my boy.  He ate almost all of it.  I know, because I saw it all again this morning....too much information?  Nah...my blog, my memories.....

Then he thought he would eat his duck....nope...dropped that in a sec and went back to his plum...

I love the look of concentration as he goes to pick up what is now a slippery skinned little sucker....

Next, he wedged it up in the corner of his tray where he worked on it for a bit...

Yes, notice the glass of wine mommy was enjoying during the show.  Unfortuneately shortly after this photo, I set it down about 2 inches too close to him and he went for it.  Sadly, it was the last of the white wine in the house....sigh....oh well...I had water instead.  But he definitely put on quite the floor show with the plum....and so last night after his 4th bath of the day....we came up with....

Little Mack Horner

Sat in a corner

Eating his first fun food....

He stuck in his thumb

Pulled out a Plum...

And said "I am a good eating dude!"
